The Eye marks one of Yello's most
successful albums in recent years and the best work they have
produced in over a decade! Previously only available on import, we
are proud to announce it's US debut. To make it even more special,
we are including a bonus CD of hard to find remixes and video.
The success of The Eye comes from the freshness of the work, the
range of themes and moods presented, and the tightness of the
package as a whole. Every song is fresh and new and guaranteed to
please any Yello fan. The album begins with it's fastest dance
track, Planet Dada, but quickly shifts gears to a more lyrical and
atmospheric feel for the remainder. Jade Davies adds her smooth
vocals to a handful of the tracks which creates an almost
groove/soul type feel for much of the album. Everything from
synthesized and sampled electronica to lyrical ballads to dance club
themes to samba and bossa-nova rhythms are all provided for pure
unabashed entertainment.
The Swiss duo Yello is comprised of vocalist/conceptualist Dieter
Meier and composer/arranger Boris Blank. The two began their musical
collaborations in 1979. Boris Blank's talent as a composer is the
key to the richness of Yello's music, and his skill in engineering
the finished product is unmatched and perfectly complemented by
Dieter Meier's imaginative lyrics and eccentric vocals. Known as
pioneers of electronic music and cult superstars since the release
of their first album, Solid Pleasure, Yello are equally revered by
club fanatics, hip hop heads, electro rock afficianados, as well as
the sophisticated lounge crowd. They are probably most well known
for their single, Oh Yeah, which was featured in the film Ferris
Bueller's Day Off. Their songs have been used in over 30 Hollywood
movies. |
