Born in 1972, as son of a Hobby DJ,
it was preprogrammed that Mellow would gravitate to music. By 1982,
he had his first set of turntables to mix his growing collection of
records together. The first 12" he bought, Living on Video by
Trans-X, was the beginning of his interest in electronic dance
music. All the way through school, he played parties both as DJ and
as part of a boygroup together with three friends. It's ironic given
his interests that Mellow didn't set foot in a club until he turned
17. From that point on, he was a regular, hanging out with the DJ's,
checking out sounds, and listening to the latest club hits.
Before long, he got his first residency at the New Carina club in
Pinneberg, Germany. He also started frequenting clubs in Hamburg
where he got to meet Gary D. Soon they were collaborating on
compilations for EDM Records, such as Hard-Trance-X-Plosion. Very
quickly his reputation spread and he was invited to major raves all
over Germany, Switzerland and Spain.
In 1996, Mellow started producing his own records under various
artist names as well as remixing for other artists. In 1998 he
released the track Phuture Vibes under the name Mellow Trax. It
immediately became a major chart success on the German Dance and Pop
Charts. His album Techno Vibes became the Best-selling German Dance
Album of 1999. Public demand forced the release of the track Outa
Space from the album as a single and it promptly turned into a
massive Top 10 Pop Hit in Germany. Success in surrounding
territories followed.
Techno Vibes, the debut album from Mellow Trax (aka DJ Mellow-D) is
now available as a US release. Featuring the single Outa Space, the
album explores the hard trance / club sound that is so popular right
now and really tests it's limits, taking it to new heights in the
process. It's 12 tracks of innovative electronic compositions speak
to trance, techno and dance lovers alike. As the name suggests, the
album is 70 minutes of trippy Techno Vibes. |
