Showcasing his diverse selection of
electronic music at sold out events around North America, Joseph
Borg, aka Hibernate, is recognized as one of Canada's top electronic
music acts. Playing alongside the most highly recognized names in
electronic music such as Paul Oakenfold and Tiesto, he has routinely
been playing to sold out crowds across the continent. With releases
on several labels such as Fragrant, Smitten, Zen and others, he's
gained an underground foothold in North America. Now, he is set to
spread his sound to the United States with his new album OCD.
Aside from mystical melodic passages and groovy progressive beats,
Hibernate pulls off a hypnotic tek sound that would reduce Sigmund
Freud to a paranoid skitz. Demented, mindscrewing leads slapped over
fierce rolling beats define the majority of Hibernate's sound. Some
have described it as a cross between Dirty Vegas, BT and the Pet
Shop Boys.
Joseph Borg is a composer, producer and guitarist who brings an
incredible amount of experience to his work. At 15, he picked up the
guitar and never put it back down, soaking up various styles such as
rock, metal, funk, classical and eventually jazz. He grew to love
music so much that his friends began referring to him as being in
"hibernation" because he spent so much time at home making music.
Eventually, he transitioned into electronic music production where
he could have more control over the entire process of composition
and production. In short time, he took on the name pseudonym
Hibernate to fit his new electronic persona.
